I don't understand why QinChen always ends up making people mad. He barely does anything to earn their anger except retaliate what they give to him first. Fair's fair in that regard but then they just come back for more punishment as if they weren't already aware that he would destroy them if they try.....

In my opinion its a mirror of chinese society or at least how it seems to feel for normal people, where you are born into a certain level and moving up in the world seems impossible and if you try you are always knocked down and punished by the people in power. I say this cause like 95% of the dongha follow this exact behavior.

A couple of things combine here: 1st we are talking about a martial society where might (literally) makes right. 2. In order for a cultivator to continue to advance in cultivation, they have to keep their heart pure of self-doubt and regrets. In practice this means that a man can not live with his dignity trampled or their "martial heart" will be affected. Therefore a cultivator, especially a sword cultivator must fight for his dignity.
